Truesse is a plant-based skincare brand that creates natural, lightweight, hydrating serums with Ayurvedic ingredients (inspired by ancient Indian medicine). The brand wanted minimalist skincare packaging and website design, along with an Amazon store, to convey the purity of the ingredients and the power of the products.

The founder began the brand when his wife and daughter expressed their frustrations with natural skincare options. Everything they tried was either too watery, too greasy, or ineffective. He used his engineering and business background to begin a journey to formulate a better natural skincare product.

When he decided to share the products with the world, he knew that the brand needed high-quality packaging that created an atmosphere of self-confidence and excitement.

He came to Crème de Mint for packaging design and for help establishing a credible online presence.

The Mood Boards and Brand
Presentation Establish the Vision

Crème de Mint wanted to ensure that every element of the brand was cohesive and aligned, laying the foundation for the brand image and reputation.

They created mood boards that presented visual possibilities for the brand vision and elements. Inspiration for the brand included an exotic bold concept, with vibrant jewel tones that played on the brand’s Ayurvedic roots, a pure and natural concept with minimalistic earthy designs, and a clean and clinical approach that reflected the products’ effectiveness.

After the initial mood boards, Crème de Mint created a brand presentation to carve out four potential directions the brand could take. Each of these concepts stemmed from a minimalistic, sleek, clean tone for the packaging. But each also contained unique design elements, some ranging from a metallic color palette to a bold color block.

After these initial designs, they created a brand presentation that highlighted the research, inspiration, and vision for the final concept. This presentation connected the purity of the herbal elements, the brand’s Ayurvedic roots, and the modern, premium tone.

Crème de Mint’s ultimate goal was to channel the natural, Ayurvedic roots of the brand with an elevated modern approach. They wanted the designs to reflect the brand’s purity and commitment to high-quality ingredients.

The brand uses Ayurvedic herbs: licorice root, pomegranate extract, witch hazel, and green tea extract—powerful plant-based skincare ingredients.

Crème de Mint wanted the logo to represent the purity of these ingredients while also establishing a high-end brand identity. The floral-inspired botanical icon is a nod to those pure, plant-based origins.

Crème de Mint envisioned sleek and minimalist skincare packaging, with an emphasis on ingredients and purpose. Clouding the packaging with too much copy would distract and confuse the audience.

Instead, simple, sophisticated packaging with meaningful but minimal copy directs the audience and communicates the brand’s message with clarity.

The clean white band against the smooth silver bottle is polished and elegant. Pops of color draw the eye to the purpose of each product.

The minimalist design keeps the focus on the product names and value.

Simple romance copy beneath the color bands conveys the benefit of each product, painting the picture of luxury, health, beauty, and lightweight skincare.

For the color palette, Crème de Mint wanted something to pop against a sleek white and silver background. They drew inspiration from elements in nature—citrus fruits, mountain greys, and ocean hues.

These colors invite and engage the audience while also aligning with the minimalist packaging concept.
